The Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that it has completed the first category capital repairs at its blast furnace (BF) No. 2.
Accordingly, the repairs included the replacement of almost all of the blast furnace's equipment, and the installation of a new bell-less charging device produced by Luxembourg-based company Paul Wurth. Currently, bell-less charging devices are already installed at five of MMK's eight blast furnaces.
The first category overhaul of the blast furnace No. 2 allows MMK to update the main facilities and to improve the technical and economic performance of its blast furnace shop.
MMK's blast furnace No. 2 was commissioned in June 1932, and currently its production capacity amounts to 3,400 mt of pig iron per day.
