Mittal denies news of investment in Jharkhand

Mittal Steel admitted yesterday that it was pondering investments in India and was looking at appropriate opportunities; however, the company denied news circulating in the Indian press that Mittal Steel had proposed building a steel works in India's Jharkhand state. As reported by SteelOrbis yesterday, Indian sources suggested that Mittal Steel is planning to establish a 10 million-ton steel works in Jharkhand. Mittal Steel indicated that no official proposal has been submitted to the state government.
