Mexico’s economy secretariat, SE, is reviewing existing countervailing duties applied to imports of seamless tubes from China, following a request from local producer Tenaris Tamsa, the agency said Monday.

According to the Mexican government, the period of review of the existing levies goes from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015, while the period of analysis starts on January 1, 2011 and ends on December 31, 2015.

SE said already established definite countervailing duties for the product will continue being applied during the period of the review.

On June 20, 2013, SE established a definite countervailing duty of $1,252/mt over the imports of seamless tubes from China.

The products subject to the review of existing import duties currently fall under the Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7304.19.02, 7304.19.99, 7304.39.06 and 7304.39.99.

Mexico said in November last year it was reviewing similar duties on imports of the product coming from Japan

Currently, seamless tube imports from Japan pay a 99.9 percent definite countervailing duty.
