Mexican iron pellet output up in May

Mexican iron pellet production in May rose 7.9 percent, year-on-year, according to data released this week by the nation’s statistics agency (Inegi).

Local pellet production totaled 671,318 mt in May this year, up from 622,271 mt in May 2017. When compared to the month prior, Mexican iron pellet output rose 1.24 percent from 663,033 mt in April.

Mexican iron pellet production in the accumulated period from January to May this year improved 5.5 percent, year-on-year.

According to Inegi, the nation’s mining and metals production index in May dropped 1.5 percent, month-on-month, but grew 1.6 percent in May on a year-on-year basis.
