The Russian steel and mining group Mechel has confirmed its interest in acquiring the London-based nickel and chrome mining and processing company Oriel Resources Plc.

Currently, Mechel is studying the possibility of acquiring Oriel. However, since the process is in a very early stage, Mechel cannot say for sure that it will place any offer for the company in question.

Oriel Resources includes the Tikhvin smelter, the Voskhod chrome and the Shevchenko nickel projects.
