The Russian mining and steel producing group Mechel has announced the completion of repair of coking battery No.4 at its Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant.

As a result of the repair, the capacity of 61 compartments within coking battery No.4 was increased by 41,000 mt per year, allowing the facility to produce up to 440,000 mt of commercial coke per year. Moreover, the new installed equipment will allow Mechel to decrease the environmental impact and to meet the international standards on product quality.

Currently, the coking battery No.4 is being warmed up. Mechel has a total of eight batteries involved in the coking and by-product process at Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant.
