The Russian steel producer and mining company Mechel has announced the commissioning at its steel subsidiary Urals Stampings Plant of a new unique ring rolling mill, designed to produce weldless straight and section rings by radial-axial rolling.

The full computerized equipment with an average capacity of four mt per hour will allow Urals Stampings Plant to produce rings with an outer diameter of 400-4,200 mm and a height of 60-1,000 mm, reducing production costs and time, and ensuring high product quality.

The total cost of the rolling mill manufactured by German plantmaker SMS Meer is over Ruble 266 million ($11 million).

As Mechel Management CEO Vladimir Polin stated, the commissioning of the new modern ring rolling mill and the development of the new product will allow Ural Stampings Plant to expand its share in the large stampings market and also to open new markets.
