Malaysia’s iron and steel sales value down 21.8 percent in Feb

In February this year, Malaysia's manufacturing sales value fell 6.9 percent compared to February 2012, to RM 46 billion ($15 billion), while on seasonally adjusted terms the sales value decreased by 9.6 percent as compared with the preceding month, according to Malaysia's Department of Statistics.

In February, the sales value of Malaysian basic iron and steel products totaled RM 1.5 billion ($505 million), decreasing by 21.8 percent year on year and down 20.8 percent compared to January this year. Meanwhile, Malaysian basic metal and fabricated metal products manufacturing output decreased by 5.2 percent in February on year-on-year basis.
