Major Chinese steel enterprises’ gross profits total RMB 62.1 billion in Jan-Sept

In the January-September period this year, the aggregate operating revenues of major Chinese steel enterprises (monitored by the China Iron and Steel Association) amounted to RMB 4.66 trillion ($0.65 trillion), down 1.74 percent year on year, while they posted a gross profit of RMB 62.1 billion ($8.65 billion), down 34.11 percent year on year, as announced by the CISA.

In 2023, monthly steel production output and consumption in China fluctuated less than that recorded in the previous two years. At the same time, the Chinese steel industry’s profitability has indicated a gradual improvement since June this year.
