ArcelorMittal Italia announced that Lucia Morselli has been appointed chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer as of October 15. Lucia Morselli will replace Matthieu Jehl, current president and CEO, who will take on new responsibilities within the company. Among the many roles that Morselli had in the past, there is the position of managing director of Italian specialty steel producer Acciai Speciali Terni from 2014 to 2016.

"Perhaps in Italy today there is no greater and more complex industrial challenge than that of the former Ilva plants", said Lucia Morselli. "I am very motivated by the opportunity to be able to lead ArcelorMittal Italia, and I will do my best to guarantee the future of the company and ensure that its contribution is appreciated by all stakeholders."

"We are very pleased to welcome Lucia as the new President and CEO of ArcelorMittal Italia", commented Geert van Poelvoorde, CEO of ArcelorMittal Europe, Flat Products. "Lucia is unanimously recognized as a highly experienced business leader who has made a significant contribution to the Italian industry. Her experience and skills will be very valuable to ArcelorMittal Italia in an effort to make the company more sustainable and to strengthen the consensus on the future of the Taranto plant."

"I would like to thank Matthieu Jehl for the important role he played in helping ArcelorMittal establish its presence in Italy. Good progress has been made, in particular in the implementation of environmental investments and in the improvement of production processes, despite the difficult external situation" added Geert van Poelvoorde.
