Hunan Province-based Chinese steelmaker Lianyuan Iron and Steel Company (Lianyuan Steel) has announced that its newly developed X80 grade hot rolled coil has passed an inspection by state-owned China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), the largest integrated oil and gas company in China. Accordingly, Lianyuan Steel will be able to access the domestic high grade steel tube market.

In 2010, Lianyuan Steel supplied 4,600 mt of X60 and X65 line pipes to PSL Group, India's largest producer of helical submerged arc welded (HSAW) pipes. Earlier in 2011, its X70 line pipe was used in the Kazakhstan section of the Central Asia-China Natural Gas Pipeline project.
