L.B. Foster supplies steel grid decking for bridge in New York City

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US-based L.B. Foster Company, a provider of structural steel, bridge decking, railing and drainage systems, will supply the City of New York Department of Transportation (DOT) with 10,000 sq. ft. (929 m2) of steel grid decking to replace the aging roadway of the Greenpoint Avenue Bridge over Newtown Creek.

L.B. Foster will also provide 2,500 sq. ft. (232 m2) of 7 ft. (65 cm) wide decking for the drawbridge's sidewalks. The decking will be manufactured at L.B. Foster's Fabricated Bridge Products facility in Bedford, Pennsylvania. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in June 2010 and be completed by August 30, 2010.

This City of New York DOT bridge rehabilitation project is being funded with stimulus money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Judlau Contracting, Inc. of College Point, New York is the project's general contractor.
