Latin American crude steel production up 19 percent in November

In November this year, Latin American crude steel production amounted to 6 million metric tons, increasing 19 percent compared to the same month last year, according to a statement released by the Latin American Steel Association (Alacero). Mexico's crude steel production in November amounted to around 1.8 million mt, up 36 percent compared to November 2010.

Meanwhile, Latin America's crude steel production in the first 11 months of the year totaled 63.3 million mt, with an increase of 12 percent year on year. The three principal crude steel producers in Latin America, namely, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, showed respective growths of 10 percent, seven percent and 12 percent compared to the same period last year.
