In April this year, Japan's iron and steel product exports amounted to 2.84 million metric tons, down 18.6 percent month on month and increasing by 3.9 percent year on year, according to the customs statistics released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
In the January-April period this year, Japanese iron and steel product exports amounted to 12.15 million mt, rising by 17.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Regarding Japan's major iron and steel product export markets, in the first four months of the year the country's iron and steel exports to South Korea totaled 1.89 million metric tons, up 12.3 percent, while exports to China increased by 3.8 percent to 1.61 million metric tons, the export volume to Taiwan amounted to 934,814 metric tons, up by 57.7 percent, exports to Thailand totaled 1.54 million metric tons, falling by 6.4 percent, while exports to the US totaled 364,763 metric tons, declining by 26.6 percent, all year on year.
