Japan’s ferroalloy imports down 6.3 percent in H1

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's ferroalloy imports totaled 167,927 metric tons in June this year, increasing by 25.7 percent month on month and up 9.9 percent compared to June 2011.

Meanwhile, in the first half of 2012, Japan's ferroalloy imports amounted to 821,572 metric tons, decreasing by 6.3 percent year on year.

In the first six months of the current year, Japan's ferroalloy imports from South Africa rose by 0.8 percent compared to the same period last year to 181,204 metric tons, while Kazakhstan exported 160,833 mt of ferroalloy to Japan in the first half of this year, down 6.4 percent year on year. Meanwhile, China's ferroalloy exports to Japan in the January-June period of 2012 fell by 16.6 percent, amounting to 141,419 mt.
