Japanese crude steel output up 0.5 percent in July

In July this year, Japanese crude steel production was up 1.3 percent compared to the previous month and up 0.5 percent compared to July 2015, totaling 8.88 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF). 
 
Meanwhile, in July of the current year Japan's pig iron production totaled 6.94 million metric tons, rising by 4.2 percent compared to the previous month and down by 0.3 percent year on year.
 
In the January-July period of this year, the country's pig iron output stood at 47.02 million metric tons, down 0.4 percent, while its crude steel production came to 60.94 million metric tons, falling 0.8 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
