In February this year, Japanese crude steel production was up 8.1 percent compared to the previous month and decreased 0.5 percent compared to February 2017, totaling 8.30 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
Meanwhile, in February this year, Japan's pig iron production totaled 6.18 million metric tons, decreasing by 9.9 percent compared to the previous month and moving down by 0.7 percent year on year.
In the January-February period of this year, Japanese crude steel production declined by 0.1 percent to 17.3 million mt, while pig iron production decreased by 0.8 percent to 13.04 million mt, both year-on-year.
