Italy's crude steel output up 9.7 percent in first quarter

In March this year, Italian crude steel output increased by eight percent year on year to 2.359 million metric tons, while in the first quarter of the year the output figure amounted to 6.648 million mt, up 9.7 percent year on year, according to the figures released by Italian steel producers association Federacciai. A monthly crude steel output volume higher than 2.3 million mt had not been achieved since May 2013.
 
Despite the year-on-year increase, the output in March of the current year remained lower compared to the crude steel outputs of 2.371 million mt in March 2010, 2.575 million mt in March 2011 and 2.699 million mt in March 2012.
