Iron ore concentrate production of Iran's state-owned iron ore mine Sangan will reach 42 million mt by the end of the fifth socio-economic development plan of Iran (2010-2015).
According to a report released by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), based on the fifth development plan the predicted iron ore production by Sangan iron ore mine in current Iranian year (ended March 20, 2011) will be equal to 25.9 million metric tons, while the volume will be 28.4 million metric tons in 2011.
Production is foreseen to reach 38 million metric tons in 2012, 40.2 million metric tons in 2013 and 42 million metric tons in 2014.
Based on the report, the projects mentioned by IMIDRO for the period up to 2015 include raising the iron ore concentrate production of Jalalabad iron ore mine to 3 million mt, creating and developing the capacities of Chador Malu with the aim of producing 1.7 million tons of iron ore concentrate, creating concentrate production capacities in the Mishdovan and Chahgaz mines up to 2.6 million mt, mining at Gol-e-Gohar no.3 with the aim of producing 10 million metric tons of iron ore concentrate, developing the Sangan 2 complex aiming for production of 2.6 million metric tons of concentrate and pellet per annum, and increasing the capacity of iron ore concentrate output at Choghart to 800,000 mt per year.
