Iran-based Gol-e-Gohar pelletizing plant was formally inaugurated by Iran's president Mahmood Ahmadinejad last Saturday, April 3, 2010. The plant started commercial production in March this year, after being commissioned at the end of October 2009 and having commenced trial production a few weeks later.
The plant, located beside Gol-e-Gohar iron ore mine in Sirjan city, has a designed annual capacity of 5 million mt, making it the largest pelletizing plant in Iran.
Construction on the plant started in mid-2005. A total investment of about €205 million has been spent for the project.
