Indian state-run steel producer Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) achieved crude steel production of 419,000 mt in April this year, up 20 percent year on year, a company statement said on Monday, May 8.
The crude steel production was achieved through operations of two blast furnaces at its 7.3 million mt per year capacity mill at the southern port town of Vishakhapatnam.
The company has three blast furnaces installed at its mill but the third has been kept idle for several months due to high operational costs.
The Indian government is currently in the process of the privatization of RINL, seeking to offload 100 percent of its equity in favour of a private investor.
