India’s mineral production up 8.8 percent in January

Indian aggregate production of all minerals in January this year was up 8.8 percent year on year, according to data released by the ministry of mines on Monday, April 10.

The data showed that cumulative mineral output during the April 2022-January 2023 period was up 5.8 percent year on year. 

Minerals showing positive growth during January 2023 over January 2022 were phosphorite 64.8 percent, gold 62.6 percent, coal 13.4 percent, iron ore 12 percent, lead concentrate 9.9 percent, natural gas 5.3 percent, limestone 3.9 percent, manganese ore 2.9 percent and bauxite 1.6 percent. 

Minerals showing negative growth during the month were petroleum -1.1 percent, chromite -2.5 percent, copper concentrate -4.3 percent, lignite -13.7 percent, magnesite -33.5 percent and zinc concentrate -89.7 percent.
