India's finished steel output rises in Apr-Dec 2007

India's Ministry of Steel has announced that the country's finished carbon steel production increased to 38.05 million mt during April-December 2007, up 6.6 percent compared to the 35.704 million mt registered in the corresponding period of 2006.

Meanwhile, India's imports of finished carbon steel rose to 4.9 million mt during April-December 2007, an increase of 66.9 percent from the 2.936 million mt registered in the equivalent period of 2006.

During the same period, the country's exports recorded a rise of 9.1 percent to 3.850 million mt, up from 3.529 million mt in the corresponding period of 2006.
