Indian iron ore production up 2 percent in FY 2019

According to preliminary estimates by the Joint Commission and the Ministry of Steel, India produced 204.1 million mt in FY 2019, up 2 percent compared to 200.6 million mt in FY 2018.

Regional production is estimated at 111.3 million mt in Odisha, 34.4 million mt in Chattisgarh, 29.2 million mt in Karnataka, 24.0 million mt in Jharkhand, 5.2 million mt others. Iron ore production disappeared in Goa from 8.0 million mt in FY 2018. The change was greatest in Odisha with a 9 percent increase compared to 102 million mt in the same period the previous year. Chattisgarh decreased 0.1 million mt while Karnataka increased 0.3 million mt.
