Indian government not to hike duties on seconds

Indian government reportedly rejected steel industry's demand for a hike in the import duties on seconds and defectives of steel to 40% from 20%. SteelOrbis reported that Indian Steel Alliance (ISA), on behalf of major steel producers, had requested for restoration of 40% customs duty on seconds and defectives of steel. Regarding the subject, Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan stated that the government was monitoring prices and would take further steps when necessary.
