India's steel imports in October this year were recorded at 600,000 mt, up 11.5 perent over the corresponding month of the previous year, according to data released by India's Ministry of Steel on Monday, November 13.
The data showed that steel imports into the country in the April-October period this year totaled 4.91 million mt, 19 percent higher than the corresponding period of the previous year.
On the export front, an estimated 778,000 mt of finished steel was shipped to the overseas market in October, marking a sharp 45 percent rise year on year. However, the figure for October this year was 30 percent lower compared to the 1.11 million mt recorded in September, according to the ministry's data.
