Indian engineering consortium to start producing forged steel wheel for Indian Railways

A consortium of Indian engineering companies, Titagarh Wagons Limited (TWL) and Ramkrishna Forgings Limited (RFL), will set up a forged steel wheel manufacturing plant for supply of 1.54 million units over a period of 20 years to national transporter Indian Railways (IR), a joint statement of the companies said on Monday, June 19.

The forged steel wheels to be manufactured by the engineering consortium will be compatible with various platforms used by IR including Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches and WAG 9 locomotives.

Under the supply terms, it will deliver 40,000 forged wheel units in the first batch from the manufacturing plant.
