Hunan Province to consolidate mineral exploration activities

Liu Minghuan, deputy secretary-general of the government of China's Hunan Province, has announced that the province plans to consolidate its mineral exploration activities during the May 2011-May 2012 period, in order to reduce emissions into the environment and to boost resource utilization.
 
According to Mr. Liu, in the province there are currently 83 varieties of mineral resources with proven reserves, as well as a total of 7,069 mining companies.
 
Within the scope of the plan, Hunan Province will carry out an overall inspection of the mining industry to discover existing issues and enact relevant measures.
