Glencore sees higher coal output in Q3

Switzerland-headquartered international commodities producer and trader Glencore, which operates a chrome joint venture with South Africa’s Merafe Resources, has announced its production results for the third quarter of this year.

In the third quarter, Glencore’s 79.5 percent share of attributable ferrochrome production totaled 873,000 mt, down by 21.3 percent year on year.

In the given period, the company’s coal production was up by 2.4 percent year on year to 83.9 million mt. In particular, in the third quarter, Glencore’s coking coal production came to 5.2 million mt, down by 16.1 percent year on year.

The company announced that its coal output guidance for 2023 stands unchanged at around 110 million mt.
