Germany’s Salzgitter to take over steel service center

Germany-based steelmaker Salzgitter AG has announced that it has signed an agreement to take over the steel processor Stahl-Metall-Service Gesellschaft für Bandverarbeitung mbH (Stahl-Metall-Service). Details of the purchase have not been disclosed.
 
According to the Salzgitter statement, through this acquisition Salzgitter will add new facilities to its existing steel service center operations in Schwerte, North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany.
 
In 2010, Salzgitter recorded sales of €135 million and shipments in excess of 200,000 mt.
