According to the latest data regarding crude steel production in France released by the French Steel Federation (FFA) in October this year French crude steel production amounted to 1,412,100 metric tons, increasing by 2.8 percent year on year and up 8.6 percent as compared to September this year.
In October, steel production in France using electric arc furnaces (EAF) fell 1.2 percent year on year, amounting to 571,350 mt, while steel production with blast furnace (BF) technology totaled 840,750 mt, increasing by 5.7 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first 10 months of the current year, France's crude steel production amounted to 13,325,250 mt, increasing by 2.5 percent compared to the same period last year. In this period, steel production in France using electric arc furnaces (EAF) rose 10.9 percent year on year, reaching 5,177,700 mt, while steel production with blast furnace (BF) technology totaled 8,147,550 mt, declining by 2.2 percent year on year.
The FFA also noted that domestic crude steel production in the first 10 months of the year was 17.8 percent below the January-October 2008 production figures.
