Fortescue’s iron ore shipments down four percent in December quarter

Australian iron ore miner Fortescue Metals Group has announced that its iron ore shipments in the second quarter ended December 31 of the financial year 2017-18 totaled 40.5 million mt, declining by four percent year on year and registering a decrease of eight percent from the previous quarter. 

According to Fortescue, during the December quarter it mined 47.5 million mt of iron ore, up four percent from the previous quarter and falling by five percent year on year.

Fortescue has affirmed its financial year 2017-18 shipping guidance at 170 million mt with total shipments in the first half of 84.5 million mt.
