Australian iron ore miner Fortescue Metals Group has announced that its first magnetite cargo from its Iron Bridge operations will be shipped to Vietnam.

This shipment will be the company’s first high-grade magnetite product export, following the production start at the project on April 21 this year.

“High-grade magnetite product will play an important role in lowering emissions in the steel industry, and Fortescue is moving at pace to ensure we are at the forefront of developing green steel technologies,” Fiona Hick, CEO of Fortescue Metals, said. The company is now focused on ramping up production at the project.

Iron Bridge has an annual production capacity of 22 million mt of high-grade 67 percent Fe magnetite concentrate, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
