Ferroatlántica buys Pechiney Electrometallurgie

Ferroatlántica, Spain's leading ferroalloys and independent electrical power producer, agreed on buying Pechiney Electrometallurgie from Alcan Inc. With this takeover, the company aims at expanding its silicon based alloys business in France through the three plants of Pechiney Electrometallurgie in the country. The transaction between Ferroatlántica and Alcan regarding the takeover of Pechiney is expected to be finalized in the second quarter of 2005.
