Feralpi Siderurgica starts up billet caster supplied by Primetals

UK-based plantmaker Primetals Technologies has announced that the six-strand billet caster it provided for Feralpi Siderurgica’s Lonato del Garda facility in Brescia has been started up. With this project, Feralpi Siderurgica aimed to increase its production capacity from 1.1 million mt to 1.2 million mt per year and to produce billets with a larger square cross section of 150 mm x 150 mm.

According to Primetals’ statement, before the supply of the six-strand caster, Feralpi Siderurgica in Lonato Del Garda produced billets with a cross section of 140 mm x140 mm for the construction industry.

Feralpi Group is one of the most important steel suppliers to the European construction industry. The group operates four subsidiary companies in Italy and runs production and sales locations in Europe and North Africa.
