Chicago-based steel rail and pipe producer Evraz North America has appointed James "Skip" Herald as president and chief executive, effective July 31, 2019.

Herald comes from Houston-based oilfield services company AXIP Energy Services, which provides compression services for oil and gas companies. He previously held senior leadership roles at France-based tubular steel producer Vallourec and oilfield services company Halliburton.

Herald will replace current Evraz North America chief executive Conrad Winkler, who is leaving after six years in the role to pursue other opportunities.
