Evraz North America reported a cyberattack affecting operations in the US and Canada, according to news reports.

On March 4, the company reported a cyberattack at a plant in Saskatchewan, and later said multiple facilities in North America were affected. The company has reportedly declined to confirm other media reports that the company experienced a ransomware attack.

EVRAZ has two plants in the US and four in Canada, and while a company spokesperson would not detail the extent of the impact or reveal the locations of the affected plants, he said the company is working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

"We've been communicating with customers and supply chain partners about this incident and potential impact on operations," the spokesperson said.

According to the United Steel Workers, Evraz issued a temporary layoff notice on March 5 at the Regina plant as part of a shutdown in response to the cyberattack.
