Evraz North America announced Wednesday that it plans to temporarily lay off 200 workers at its Pueblo, Colorado plant, citing the effect of low oil prices on its seamless pipe production.

“Due to declining oil prices and significant reductions in drilling programs, Evraz is making production adjustments and temporarily crewing down where needed,” the company said in a statement.

“We will temporarily curtail production at our seamless pipe facility in Pueblo effective Jan. 31. We continue to closely monitor the market and will bring these employees back to work as soon as we can.”

The company said that seamless pipe and other tubular steel products accounted for 17 percent of its 2013 sales in North America.
