The hot dip galvanized (HDG) import quotas for the automotive industry announced by the European Union in early February have already been exhausted in the first two weeks for countries other than China, Korea, India and Taiwan. There are separate quotas for HDG imports from these four countries.

For the HDG products under this category, the quotas are allocated quarterly, unlike most products which are usually allocated yearly quotas. The import quota for HDG products from countries other than the abovementioned ones was almost 50,000 mt for the February-March period (February 2-March 31).

Auto grade HDG products fall under customs codes 72102000, 72103000, 72109080, 72122000, 72125020, 72125030, 72125040, 72125090, 72259100, 72269910, 7210410080, 7210490080, 7210610080, 7210690080, 7212300080, 7212506180, 7212506980, 7225920080, 7225990025, 7225990095, 7226993090, 7226997019 and 7226997096.
