European Commission approves Evraz Palini’s acquisition by Marcegaglia

The European Commission has announced that it has approved under the EU Merger Regulation the acquisition of Evraz Palini & Bertoli S.r.l, Italian subsidiary of Russian steelmaker Evraz, by Italian steel re-roller Marcegaglia.

The commission stated that, since the companies' combined share of the market for manufacturing of heavy quarto plates is limited, the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns.

In October, Marcegaglia had announced its intention to buy Evraz Palini & Bertoli, as previously reported by SteelOrbis.
