European commercial motor vehicle registrations down 30.7 percent in Oct

According to a report released by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), new commercial vehicle registrations in Europe (EU27 + EFTA) have been declining for a year and a half now, falling to 141,765 units in October, down 30.7 percent year on year.

In October, the year-on-year drop in new registrations of light commercial vehicles (LCVs) was 25.5 percent while a decrease of 56.8 percent was recorded for heavy trucks, a decline of 53.4 percent was seen for trucks, and a decline of 30.7 percent was observed in new registrations of buses and coaches.

Meanwhile, in  January-October period of 2009, new registration figures were 35.3 percent below the level in the corresponding period of 2008, with a total of 1,417,255 new commercial vehicles registered.
