After the European Commission’s adoption of its new Circular Economy Package to stimulate Europe's transition towards a circular economy which will boost global competitiveness, foster sustainable economic growth and generate new jobs, the economic committee of the European Steel Association (EUROFER) has announced that, having taken the time to analyze its contents, EUROFER welcomes the package and is broadly pleased with the proposals.
EUROFER stated that the package sets out the objectives, tools and methodologies that should be used to ensure that steel products can be efficiently produced, used, reused, recovered and recycled in a constant loop. The Circular Economy Package supports the use and recycling of steel and its by-products, as steel is a 100 percent recyclable material, therefore encouraging the use of durable, resource-efficient and recyclable products in EU member states.
