The European Commission has announced that it has decided to impose definitive countervailing duties (CVDs) on certain stainless steel bars and rods imports from India, following the expiry review initiated in April 2016 upon the complaint lodged by the European Steel Association (EUROFER).
As a result of the expiry review, the European Commission has sought and verified all the information it deemed necessary for the determination of the likelihood of continuation or recurrence of subsidization, and continuation or recurrence of injury, and whether maintaining the countervailing measures would not be against the interests of the European Union.
The definitive countervailing duty rates range between 3.3 percent and 4.0 percent.
The products in question are stainless steel bars and rods, not further worked than cold-formed or cold-finished, other than bars and rods of circular cross-section of a diameter of 80 mm or more, currently falling within CN codes 7222 20 21, 7222 20 29, 7222 20 31, 7222 20 39, 7222 20 81 and 7222 20 89.
