EU orders registration of HR flat product imports from Russia and Brazil

The European Commission has announced that it has ordered the registration of certain hot rolled flat products of iron, non-alloy or other alloy steel imports from Russia and Brazil for the purpose of ensuring that, should its current investigation result in findings leading to the imposition of an antidumping (AD) duty, this duty can, if the necessary conditions are fulfilled, be levied retroactively on the registered imports.

According to the commission’s statement, the registration request was made by the European Steel Association (EUROFER), which requested that imports of the products concerned be made subject to registration so that measures may subsequently be applied against those imports from the date of such registration.

The antidumping investigation was launched in July this year following the application lodged by EUROFER and covers the period from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016.

The products in question currently fall under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7208 10 00, 7208 25 00, 7208 26 00, 7208 27 00, 7208 36 00, 7208 37 00, 7208 38 00, 7208 39 00, 7208 40 00, 7208 52 99, 7208 53 90, 7208 54 00, 7211 14 00, 7211 19 00, 7225 19 10, 7225 30 10, 7225 30 30, 7225 30 90, 7225 40 12, 7225 40 15, ex 7225 40 60, 7225 40 90, 7226 19 10, ex 7226 20 00, 7226 91 20, 7226 91 91 and 7226 91 99.
