EU new car registrations up 8.8 percent in January-September

In September this year, new car registrations totaled 1,356,868 units in the European Union (EU), with an increase of 9.8 percent year on year, while demand for new passenger cars was up in all major markets, according to the latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). 
 
In September, Spain (+22.5 percent), Italy (+17.2 percent), France (+9.1 percent), the UK (+8.6 percent) and Germany (+4.8 percent) were the major EU markets which recorded increases in new car registrations on year-on-year basis.
 
Meanwhile, in the January-September period new passenger car registrations in the EU increased to 10,413,675 units, up 8.8 percent year on year. In this period, Spain saw an increase of 22.4 percent and Italy saw an increase of 15.3 percent, while new passenger car registrations in the UK rose by 7.1 percent, with registrations in France rising by 6.3 percent and with registrations in Germany up 5.5 percent, all year-on-year basis.
