EU, Euro zone retail sales up in February

European Union statistics agency Eurostat disclosed that the volume of retail trade in February rose 1% year on year in the Euro zone and 1.9% year on year in the European Union (EU). The retail sales index rose 0.3% in the Euro zone and 0.4% in EU compared to January 2005. Slovakia (12.5%), Lithuania (9%), Denmark (8.2%), Sweden (4.3%), the UK (3.6%), Portugal (3.1%), Spain (2.4%), France (2.1%), Germany (1.1%) and Poland (0.1%) saw increase in retail sales. However, Luxembourg and Belgium experienced decline of 3.7% and 0.6% respectively.
