Gujarat, India-based steelmaker Essar Steel has announced that it achieved its highest-ever monthly production volume of flat steel in March this year. In the given month, the company produced 500,000 mt of flat steel, up 62 percent year on year. In March, the company’s capacity utilization was 70 percent.
Meanwhile, in the fourth quarter of the 2015-16 financial year ended March 31, Essar Steel’s pellet output increased by 48 percent to 1.93 million mt, while its crude steel output rose by 43 percent to 1.24 million mt, both year on year. In the given quarter, the company’s flat steel production amounted to 1.23 million mt increasing by 34 percent year on year.
