Essar Steel achieves best-ever monthly crude steel output in March

India-based Essar Steel has lately announced that it achieved its best-ever monthly crude steel production results in March this year, with the output totaling 380,000 metric tons, increasing by 24 percent as compared to March 2010.

In March this year, Essar Steel's finished steel production increased by 25.4 percent as compared to March 2010, reaching 397,000 metric tons.

According to Essar Steel's statement, the company is close to completing the expansion of its annual steelmaking capacity to 10 million metric tons. As part of this expansion, Essar Steel has already commissioned two iron making units - a blast furnace with a capacity of 1.73 million metric tons and a direct reduced iron (DRI) unit of 1.74 million metric tons, a Conarc furnace of 2.5 million metric tons capacity and a continuous caster with an annual output capacity of 1.45 million metric tons.
