Brazil’s cast auto parts sector expects output to increase 10 percent in 2017, a media report from Brazil’s Valor said on Friday.
The sector expects to produce 2.3 million mt of the cast parts, according to data from the country’s foundry association, ABIFA.
ABIFA said the local cast auto parts segment has already experienced a “sustainable growth” in Q3 this year, which is mainly fueled by the local automotive sector in Brazil. Auto production increased in H1 by 23.3 percent, year-on-year, according to data from the nation’s automotive industry association, Anfavea.
Brazil is one of the world’s largest cast parts producers, with a capacity of 4 million mt of the product per year. There are about 1,200 companies involved with the local foundry industry, which produce cast parts out of iron, aluminum and steel.
About 20 percent of the country’s production is destined to the export market.
