Brazil’s automotive production (cars, trucks and buses) reached 209,000 units in September, 7.9 percent less than in August and 0.5 percent more than in September 2022.
Domestic sales reached 198,000 units in September, 4.8 percent less than in August and 1.9 percent more than in September 2022.
Exports in September reached 27,400 units, 20.8 percent less than in August and 3.9 percent less than in September 2022.
According to Marcio de Lima Leite, president of the sector association Anfavea, Brazil is expected to produce a total of 2.372 million units in 2023, relatively stable from 2022. He mentioned that the domestic demand for vehicles is increasing in 2023, but 67 percent of the increased demand is being captured by imports.
During the first nine months of the year, the automotive production in Brazil reached 1.751 million units, a 0.3 percent decline on yearly basis, while domestic sales increased by 8.5 percent to 1.631 million units and exports declined by 11.2 percent to 322,900 units.
